Influences: Rush, Dream Theatre, Dave Matthew’s, Spock’s Beard in bands. I’m inspired by many musical genres though, including classical, most heavy rock a lot of fusion; video game soundtracks sometimes, would you believe it?

I’m a guitar player of about 14 years, but a drummer of under 3. So in ways I don’t even call myself a drummer. Just that when we started off as Surge we didn’t have a drummer so I had to become one. Ever since though, I’ve become really interested in learning the ropes of this fantastic array of instruments and hope to keep getting better at it.

Surge to me is a vessel that will create a sense of community among people interested in original music, both from the playing and listening ends. It is a serious outfit both in terms of the musicianship of its members and the message that our songs convey. The subject matter of Surge songs is varied, covers a lot of ground and is an invitation to the entire community to give some thought over. This stems from a very strong personal belief that a willing community will ultimately help all within it to better themselves, help each other out, form strong bonds, spread good-will and become mighty. Starting with the band members, already one big happy family, our circle has started to grow to my utmost pride. The band has been blessed with incredible friends who believe in us and have selflessly helped us out.

Admittedly, it has been tough and slow going for Surge with all its members being professionals working day jobs and all being married. Believe me guys, I’d like to churn out two albums per year but that has simply not been possible. Have faith in us though, we’re coming!
